ICAZ Membership
A Message from the Treasurer—
Thanks to those of you who joined or renewed your membership in
ICAZ. If you paid by check and your check has not cleared, please
be advised that funds received for ICAZ dues are batched and sent
in lots to our bank, NatWest, in London. We apologize to anyone
who had to wait for their check to clear, but it is necessary to
accumulate payments before depositing them in order to save on banking
fees. ICAZ now offers an Online Membership page so that you can register or renew right here on the ICAZ website and pay securely and seamlessly with a credit card through PayPal.
Please note the following guidelines for paying your membership
dues:
- All checks or wire transfers must be made payable to "ICAZ"
or the "International Council for Archaeozoology". And, please
be sure that your check is signed!
- Please do not send a money order, travelers checks, or cash
without first contacting the Treasurer at icaztreasurer@comcast.net.
Generally these forms of payment are not accepted.
- Checks in US Dollars should be drawn on a USA bank, those in
UK Sterling should be drawn on a UK bank, and those in Euros should
be drawn on a bank of a Euro country. Payments made in dollars,
sterling, or euros drawn on banks of other countries should be
avoided because of the high currency conversion and clearance
rates that are applied by both the issuing and cashing bank (between
US$18 and US$30 total per item!).
- If it is impossible to pay in dollars, sterling, or euros or
by credit card using PayPal, you may choose to pay in the currency
of your own country. This option, however, is only possible if
your country's currency is easily convertible, and you must add
the equivalent of US$9 to the total paid to cover conversion costs.
- We encourage members who have currency conversion problems
to arrange to have a visiting American or European colleague pay
their dues for them in one of the currencies listed above. You
can repay that person in local currency for use during their trip.
Please make sure that your name appears somewhere on the payment
sent with the membership application form.
- Wire transfers are possible, but expensive (especially at the
originating end). This form of payment may be cost effective for
memberships pooled within a country or region. Wire transfer fees
are the responsibility of the originating party and may not be
deducted from the cost of membership. If you want to initiate
a wire transfer, please contact the Treasurer at e-mail address
below.
If you have any further questions, please contact ICAZ Treasurer
Pam Crabtree at icaztreasurer@comcast.net.
