ICAZ 2006 CONFERENCE POSTER PRIZES

Your poster could win $500!!

There will be a poster prize competition at the ICAZ 2006 conference in Mexico City to encourage and reward the presentation of interesting and well-designed posters.  As at the Durham 2002 meeting, there will be two categories: student and professional.  The first prize in each category will be $500, the second prize in each category will be $250.

There is no need to enter: all posters displayed at the Conference will be considered.  Those currently presenting oral papers in general sessions are free to change their presentations to poster format in order to enter the competition if they notify the organisers by 20 June 2006.

More detailed rules:

Purpose and prize

The purpose of the competition is to encourage and reward the presentation of interesting posters about zooarchaeological research at the ICAZ 2006 Conference.  Prizes are offered in two categories: student and professional.   $500 is offered for the best poster in each category, and $250 for the runner-up in each category.

Eligibility and entry All posters accepted as Conference posters by the organisers and displayed at the Conference will be considered as entries with the exception of posters by members of the panel of judges or those closely connected with them.

Evaluation The posters will be judged by a panel appointed by the Conference organisers; criteria will include the interest to zooarchaeologists of the content of the poster, the way in which this is communicated, and the design and impact of the poster, and may also include any other criteria the panel decides on.  The judges may canvass the opinion of those at the Conference in any way that they think fit and may take this into consideration.

Fame and Fortune The prize will be awarded during the Conference and the winning posters will be placed on the ICAZ website.

Please Note: All decisions of the panel of judges will be final.

Note to People Giving Posters:
Posters should be 90 cm long x 60 cm wide, so they can be set in the available boards. Also people bringing posters need to to bring double-sided masking tape. The posters are numbered in the program, so poster presenters can set their poster in the right number at the session day.
