Plenary Session

The Conference Plenary Session is titled: LATIN-AMERICAN ARCHAEOZOOLOGY: ORIGINS AND DEVELOPMENT Organizers are: Oscar J. Polaco (felisaaguilar@yahoo.com.mx ), Guillermo Mengoni (wmengoni@fibertel.com.ar), and Joaquín Arroyo-Cabrales (arromatu5@yahoo.com.mx)

In recognition of the increasing number of Latin American archaeozoologists and the potential for archaeozoological studies in the region, this plenary session will feature archaeozoologists from a wide range of countries in Latin America who will give an up-to-date report on the in-country developments in archaeozoology. The purpose of the plenary session is to establish the state-of-the-art for the field in the region, and to promote the exchange of experiences and personnel in an inter-institutional and international manner among research groups. Another aim is to develop an overview of the research themes and methods used across the region, highlighting both their similarities and their differences.
