Conferences & Working Groups

ICAZ International Conference, 2006

BoneCommons will launch in May 2006, offering special services around the 2006 International Conference of ICAZ in Mexico City. It will provide ICAZ members with a “virtual conference facility” for the exchange and discussion of conference papers prepared for the 2006 International Meeting. BoneCommons will enhance the exchange of scholarly content from the meeting by providing the broader zooarchaeological community access to the meeting’s content and discussion forums. These online forums will not replace face-to-face meetings, but will enhance the international meeting in the following ways:

• Conference participants can post abstracts, papers and related scholarly content
• Conference participants can contribute to continuing discussions on works presented in the scholarly program
• Conference organizers can post announcements and information related to meetings and other events throughout the year

As a comprehensive portal the meeting’s scholarly program, news, and events, BoneCommons will make it easy to find conference information, enabling users to make the most of the 2006 meeting.

ICAZ Working Groups

Each ICAZ working group has a unique forum where members can hold discussions, plan meetings, and post abstracts, papers, and outcomes of working group meetings. Working group leaders should contact BoneCommons for access privileges to customize and manage their forum.

This forum provides a place where members can upload and search photos in order to get assistance with identification.

General Discussions

BoneCommons's General Discussions forum is a place where ICAZ members can post content for discussion with other members. Members can use this forum to request recent data, publication citations, or updated information on a specific topic from BoneCommons users.

Announcements

In this forum, members can announce upcoming conferences, new studies, job and fieldwork opportunities, and other zooarchaeology-related news items. Users can post questions or comments to these announcements.

 

Resources

Member Publications

In this forum, ICAZ members can post citations for new and past publications. They can also post links to their online publications, and even the full text of publcations, if copyright allows them to do so. Users can search by name, topic, or date published, and add comment to announcements.

Teaching Materials

This forum allows members to post useful resources for teaching, such as:

• Images (photos, maps)
• Tables and Charts
• Excel spreadsheets with raw data
• Course-planning materials, such as syllabi and reading lists
• Links to useful teaching sites on the Web

This forum is a place where members of the ZOOARCH email list service can post attachments related to their email queries.
